Mireille Rijavec & Roxanne Classen

Your Special Day

Based in Edmonton, Mireille and friends can provide refined music for your ceremony and a touch of sophistication for your reception. We can present some of your favourite hymns or songs for your church or civil ceremony, and background vocals for your reception. We have a list of options to choose from, or let us know what you would like to hear and we can make that happen.

Singer Mireille Rijavec and pianist Roxanne Classen have been performing cabaret together since their 2007 Edmonton Fringe debut Brie, Baguette, and a Broad. Other collaborations include Chat Blanc, a concert theatre piece exploring the life of Erik Satie, and Lost in Montmartre, a cabaret inspired wake for Satie. Cabaret is an intimate gathering place where audiences experience the personal performance of popular song. Mireille and Roxanne also present their unique cabarets for private functions.

Performance Reviews

Roger Levesque, Edmonton Journal review of Lost in Montmartre, Edmonton Fringe Festival 2013
``But in the end, classical singer Mireille Rijavec is the sublime vocal highlight who helps you get lost in Satie's Paris``
John Charles, Edmonton Sun, Pro Coro Canada's Duruflé Requiem
``...and mezzo-soprano Mireille Rijavec sang Pie Jesu with warmth and tenderness.``
Bill Rankin, Edmonton Journal, Pro Coro Canada's Duruflé Requiem
``Mireille Rijavec found the chant deep within her chest in her Pie Jesu solo, producing a strongly devotional feel.``
Lloyd Dykk, Vancouver Sun
The “opera” (Lee Hoiby's Bon Appétit!), if you can call it that, is dotty and endearing, though I’m a sucker for almost any show with onstage food. … Rijavec was charming and in command of her wits – it can’t have been easy to beat egg whites to a proper peak without missing a beat of the music.
